photo editing

I had the pleasure of taking some photos of a friends little baby boy a while ago and I am just getting around to editing them now. It is so hard to get good pics of babys, but with a bit of editing these are looking just lovely. Here's a sneak..

End of term thoughts

Hooray! today is the first day of a longer half term holiday for my three children and me also. Having a term time only job as well as my crafty and design projects is so fantastic! It has felt like a long term and we are all ready for a more relaxed way of life for the next 10 days or so.

I have some projects to work on over the holiday but these will be enjoyable to work on and I hope to do some art and crafty projects with the children too.

For now here are some lovely ideas to think about...

Feeling Christmassy?

Umm no not really, but in the world of publishing most Christmas projects have been designed, worked on and delivered to the mags!

I made some mini christmas Crackers for issue 15 of Craftseller magazine, the Christmas issue, which is full of amazing ideas, out now in shops!

Here's a little look at them...

What Christmas crafts have you been inspired to make?

Things I am liking right now...

I love this time of year, although I'm sad to see summer go, I love the crisper mornings, the sun shining lower in the sky, the colours of the trees, conker collecting and the cosy nights drawing in.

These photos are from last year, I love the colours, the sunshine and the memory of taking the kids to the park after school and filling bags with conkers and enjoying the late summer sun. Hoping to repeat this towards the end of the month this year.

What do you love about this time of year?

catching up...

This was my OWOT post over at Truly, Madly, Crafty.....

One Word One Technique #33

Hi everyone,
time for another One Word One Technique
For a reminder of how 'One Word, One Technique' works, click here for Maxine's introduction.
The prompt for wk 33:
Technique - Punching
Word - Fiery

Hi everyone it's Annie here with this weeks OWOT! I have to admit I had to look up the definition of the word fiery as I had a vague idea of it's meaning, but wasn't 100% sure. So I printed out the definition and used this as a starting point for my page, which started life as a piece of A5 cream cardstock.

I then gathered some papers that had an orange, brown and red colour theme running through them to emphasise the passion side of the word. I don't own too many punches, but with the ones I had I used them to add a background and little dots of colour through the page. I loved the way the negative hearts looked on the orange paper and used this in the centre of the page. I used a small circle punch to make a border of half circles near the top. I really just played with the shapes and colours until I was happy with the page!

I hope this will inspire you to get those punches out, especially if you never use them and just have fun with them!

saturday shots

Just a few random photos from the past week, we have had some HOT weather at last, but dare I say it, almost too hot! We went from rain, rain and more rain to burning hot sun in the space of 24hrs! But we enjoyed it!

15 July 2012

and it's now July!

Where has the time gone? In between a mad busy few weeks and a dodgy modem with intermittent internet connection, I haven't updated in a while. But today I am back with the new post over at Truly, Madly, Crafty

One Word One Technique #29

Here's your next 'One Word, One Technique' prompt for July:

For a reminder of how 'One Word, One Technique' works, click here for Maxine's introduction.

The prompt for week 29 is:

June Technique - Sewing
This Week's Word - FREE

Here's my page for this week! I just had a bit of fun with this page, layering up little bits and pieces on top of a background that I made using watercolour crayons and acrylic paint. I then used my sewing machine to add a sewn freehand line to emphasise the word free.

I hope you like this weeks page and the ideas I've used, please do link us to your creations as we'd love to see them.

Have fun, Annie

Jubilee Street Party with The Making Spot

Today is a very special day as The Making Spot are hosting a Jubilee Street Party, with loads of jubilee craft projects and ideas for you to try out!

If you have come here from The Making Spot 'HI' it's good to see you here and I hope you like my project and my free postcards too!

So I decided to do a Jubilee inspired scrapbook page for this P-A-R-T-Y! It was really fun to go through my stash and find things that were either colour or theme related, this is the pile of goodies I came up with:

If you want to play along, you don't have to have the exact products just similar things you can put on your page! I decided to scrap some photos of my daughters 6th birthday, so not anything related to the jubilee at all, but something I wanted to get done!

Step 1: Use a bright red cardstock as your background, add some white and black music themed paper with a little blue ink around the edges and some pretty white ribbon or organza!
Step 2: Add a union jack, this one is from the Portobello Road collection from Papermania, or you could draw one yourself, or make one from coloured paper or felt.
Step 3: Next I stuck down two 4 x 6 photos close to the right hand side, half a JBS label to the top edge and a luggage label with some alpha stickers on it holding my title. Letter stickers are from Simple Stories summer fresh collection and come on a 12 x 12 sheet with a large alphabet, 3 small ones and word stickers too!
Step 4: I used the pennant shape stamp from the Dear Lizzy set, stamped it onto paper with blue and red ink, cut them out and stuck them onto a piece of white embroidery thread to make some simple bunting and stuck it across the corner. I also added a little union jack cocktail stick.
Step 5: For this final step I added a few word stickers and two large red buttons, and voila! it is done! I haven't written my journalling yet, but i will do over the weekend, so come back and see the finished thing!

I hope you liked this tutorial and if you do use this as inspiration to make something of your own, please do leave me a comment and a link so I can look at it too!

Now if you've managed to get this far, you are in for a treat! I have made this A4 page for you to download and use as postcards or journaling cards or whatever you like really! Again leave me a comment if you use them!

Click on the image and then save to your computer and print!

Finally, in the spirit of all things celebratory if you leave me a comment and tell me how you are celebrating the Jubilee I will put your name into a hat to win a Jubilee themed goodie bag of little crafty bits and bobs!

Olympic Torch

My parents live on the route that the torch passed by on Tuesday, we I picked the kids up from school, drove straight there before the roads were closed and we enjoyed the atmosphere and excitement waiting for the torchbearer to come past! Here are a few pics:
